I usually don't speak before the concert and try not to strain my vocal cords. Sometimes I don't speak at all a whole day, but I usually keep quiet until about two hours before the the concert, and little by little getting ready as start singing aloud one hour before the performance. I think other artists are the same, but I try to listen to my voice under a calm and quiet environment. Also, since good quality sleep is very important, I try to get a good sleep and to live an orderly life as possible.
